Salsify makes return at Leopardstown

Rodger Sweeney is looking forward to the return of star hunter chaser Salsify at Leopardstown on Sunday.

The two-time Cheltenham Festival winner makes his first start since December 2013 in the Raymond Smith Memorial Hunters Chase at the Dublin track.

All roads lead to Cheltenham for a hat-trick bid if the 10-year-old comes through his weekend test unscathed.

"He seems OK but we won't know until Sunday as he's been a long time off the track. He's in good fresh form," said Sweeney.

"Prince De Beauchene looks the one to beat. He looked very good last time.

"We'll see how he is on Monday and take it from there. We'll be heading that (Cheltenham) way if he comes out of Sunday's race well."

The Willie Mullins-trained Prince De Beauchene, a former winner of the Bobbjyo Chase at Fairyhouse, made an excellent start to his hunter chase career at Thurles last month and will once again be partnered by the trainer's son, Patrick.

Enda Bolger is double-handed with Mossey Joe bidding to get his season back on track and On The Fringe looking to bounce back from an odds-on reverse at Down Royal over Christmas.

Boxer Georg, Current Exchange, Loughnagall, Need To Know and Sebadee complete a nine-runner field.
