Ireland and Poland both facing UEFA charges

Ireland and Poland both face disciplinary action from UEFA following their 1-1 EURO 2016 qualification draw at Aviva Stadium.

Despite the atmosphere at the game being hugely positive with supporters freely mingling with little hint of trouble, Poland have been charged after some supporters set off flares just before kick-off and for throwing objects.

Ireland meanwhile face a charge of "improper conduct of the team", an automatic sanction which comes when five or more players are shown cards.

Wes Hoolahan, John O'Shea, Seamus Coleman, Marc Wilson and James McCarthy were all booked during the game.

Meanwhile Ireland's group rivals Georgia face a more serious charge relating to crowd trouble during their 2-0 defeat at home to Germany.

Georgia could be facing up to the prospect of having to play their next qualifier against Scotland behind closed doors.

Georgian football federation president Zviad Sichinava said: "Unfortunately there will be monetary sanctions. Also the next Georgia team home match [against Scotland in September] could be held without spectators."

All cases will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on 21 May.
