Doherty reaches Wales Open quarter-finals

Ken Doherty has made it through to the quarter-finals of the Welsh Open in Newport after beating Tom Ford 4-3.

Doherty will next face either Neil Robertson or Stuart Bingham who meet this afternoon.

The Dubliner was 2-0 up but a 101 break in the sixth frame brought the English player level at 3-3.

The 1997 World Champion held his nerve to win the decider 71-23 to continue his good form after beating John Higgins in the previous round.
