Ger Brennan is adamant that Dublin are not going to get caught up in the media hype that always surrounds the Boys in Blue.
Jim Gavin's side go into Sunday's All-Ireland Foootball Championship semi-final against Kerry as slight favourites but the St Vincent's man will not let that tag bother them.
Brennan told RTÉ Sport: "I think in past years, players have got caught up in that media hype and thinking they are better than they are. But there is no fear of that happening with this squad.
"We're aware to the reality that there is hype out there but we know we are not the finished article, we know we're not as good as people say.
"Not only can [the media] exaggerate, they do exaggerate how good Dublin teams are."
"We are creating quite a lot of scoring chances and we're not converting them" - Ger Brennan
With many pundits pointing to the fact the Kerry team have a lot of miles on the clock, Brennan was eager to point out that he doesn't regard the Munster champions as an ageing side.
"I do not, whatsoever," he said. "They are in the semi-final of an All-Ireland so that shows you how motivated and energetic they are.
"So, certainly, not for one moment do I think they are over the hill."
The 2011 All-Ireland winner also admitted that, despite their run to the semi-final, where their smallest winning margin was five points, over Cork in the quarter-final, there is much room for improvement.
He said: "I think you could take [positive] elements from each of the four previous games but there are also large parts which we need to improve on greatly.
"I suppose we are creating quite a lot of scoring chances and we're not converting them so trying to improve that conversion rate is something that we're hoping to improve upon.
"Defensively, as well, [we're] just trying to limit the amount of scoring opportunities that [opposition] forwards get."
