Bethany Firth is through to the SB14 100 metres breaststroke final at the IPC Swimming World Championships.

She won the first of three heats in a time of 1:20.50, which was a new personal best for the 17-year-old.

She goes into the final as the third seed behind Spain's Michelle Alonso Morales and Nicole Lough from Great Britain.

She will swim in the final on Friday night at 1.15am Irish time.

The Co Down competitor has already bagged two silver medals at the championships.

She followed up her S14 200 metres freestyle second place on Monday, with a second medal in the S14 100 metres backstroke on Wednesday.

Team Ireland have won five medals at the games, with Darragh McDonald the only gold medal winner.
