Hawk-Eye was dropped for the All-Ireland Hurling Championship semi-final between Limerick and Clare after an error in the minor game earlier in the day.
Limerick's Barry Nash shot towards goal in the first minute of the game with Galway and referee Fergal Horgan referred to the new technology.
The graphic showed that the sliotar had gone inside the post but 'miss' came up on the screen.
The referee had little choice but to give a wide.
The game finished level after normal time meaning the decision was vital to the outcome, with Galway winning in extra-time.
Alan Milton, head of media relations with the GAA, said: "We were unhappy with the generation of one of the graphics. There was an inconsistency during the minor game.
"To that end we have decided to pull Hawkeye for the remainder of the day. We are taking the policy it is better to be safe than sorry in this instance.
"We are going to launch an internal investigation to try to get to the bottom of it to make sure it can be remedied before it will be in use again.
"For obvious reasons, if it is not perfect, we will not be using as part of matchday apparatus."
