McNamara: Key to win is cutting out errors

Limerick defender Wayne McNamara says the key to victory in Sunday's All-Ireland semi-final against Clare is cutting out the mistakes.

The Adare clubman told RTÉ Sport: "I think the two teams are well prepared, they're fit, hungry, whoever makes the least mistakes is going to win the game."

The Treaty County reached this stage as Munster champions after beating Cork in the provincial final.

But Davy Fitzgerald's men arrive at this juncture after back-door wins over Laois, Wexford and Galway following a Munster semi-final loss to the Rebels, who await in the final.

"[Clare have been] very good, in fairness," said McNamara.

"When they lost to Cork, they obviously learnt a lot and looked at themselves and they've played three games since and they've improved in every game, when the competition was getting better as well."

Meanwhile, McNamara's team-mate Tom Condon says that the familiarity between the two sets of players will add to the occasion.

He said: "We have had some great battles over the years. A lot of them lads would have gone would have gone to college in LIT in Limerick with a lot of us Limerick fellas so you get to know their style of play.

"Watching back videos you know they are going to be playing a hard and fast, short, running game, short passing as well.

"It's going to be an awful battle, it always is. As I said, form goes out the window. It's all on the day who wants it more.

"It's as simple as that – who wants it more, the scoreboard will take care of itself."
