McComb impresses at World Championships

Ireland's Sean McComb recorded a convincing win against Gildas Bangana of the Central African Republic to advance to the last 16 in the lightweight division at the World Championships in Kazakhstan.

The Belfast fighter was a 30-27, 30-26, 30-26 unanimous decision in his second win in Almaty.

McComb will face Azerbaijan's Elvin Isayev in his next bout on Tuesday.

Isayev, who won the European Under-22 Championships in Russia last year, saw off the challenge of eighth seed Vazgen Safaryants of Belarus.

Light-heavyweight Joe Ward will be in action against Poland's Mateusz Tryc at 5pm today.
