Collins confirmed as new Derry City boss

Roddy Collins has been confirmed as the new manager of Derry City.

Collins, who guided Athlone Town to promotion to the Premier Division last season, takes over from Declan Devine, who parted company with the Candystripes last month.

A statement on the club's website read: "The Chairman and Board of Directors of Derry City Football Club would like to announce that a new managerial team consisting of Roddy Collins (Manager) and Peter Hutton (Assistant Manager) has, today, been put in place."

Derry finished fourth in the league last season, qualifying for the Europa League preliminary stages.

52-year-old Collins also formerly managed Bohemians, Shamrock Rovers, Cork City, Monaghan United and Carlisle United.
