Home favourite Rory McIlroy endured a painful first round at the Irish Open at Fota Island, slumping to a three-over par 74.
The two-time major winner hit six bogeys, including four on his front nine, and just three birdies to finish a full 10 shots behind early clubhouse leader Mikko Ilonen's sensational 64.
Padraig Harrington fared better, landing three birdies in a steady two-under-par 69.
Darren Clarke's up-and-down 72 included three birdies and four bogeys.
Damien McGrane was level with Clarke on one over.
