Can completes move to Liverpool

Liverpool have completed the signing of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Emre Can after a deal to bring the Germany Under-21 international was agreed last month.

They had to wait until the summer transfer window officially opened on 1 July in order to register the necessary paperwork and international clearance on the £10million move.

That has now been done and Can is the third player through the doors at Anfield this summer.

He joins Southampton duo Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana as a summer recruit.

Can said: "It was an easy decision for me to sign for [Liverpool] after a good chat with the manager. It was important.

"I am proud to be a part of the family and I am looking forward to playing here. I'll give my best."

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to boost his squad with Liverpool facing more games as they return to the Champions League.

They could still lose Luis Suarez to Barcelona, with talks between the two clubs on a proposed transfer described as "productive".
