Soumillon hoping Gibralter can shine in Paris

Christophe Soumillon is hoping Prince Gibraltar can gain his revenge on British raider The Grey Gatsby is Sunday's Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris.

The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained three-year-old signed off his juvenile campaign with a Group One victory at Saint-Cloud and having made a winning reappearance at the same track in early May, he was favourite for last month's Prix du Jockey Club.

However, he had to make do with minor honours when making up a lot of ground to be third as Dante Stakes winner The Grey Gatbsy claimed French Derby glory for trainer Kevin Ryan. The two are set to lock horns again at Longchamp this weekend.

Both horses will be tackling a mile and a half for the first time.
Soumillon said: "I'm delighted to ride Prince Gibraltar in the Grand Prix de Paris. I always thought highly of him and hope he can get his revenge and beat The Grey Gatsby this time.

"The trip and ground in any case will suit him. He is tough and has lots of stamina."
