Taylor misses out on title defence through injury

World and Olympic champion Katie Taylor will not be defending her Irish lightweight title after missing this morning's weigh-in at the 2015 National Elite Championships due to a injury.

Taylor is believed to be recovering from damage to ligaments in her left wrist and is targeting a return in time to box at the inaugural European Games in Azerbaijan this summer.

Louise Donohue and Debbie O'Reilly will now contest the final.

The five-time world title winner Taylor has been unopposed at 60kg in Ireland in recent years.
