France lock Pascal Pape has been cited for kneeing Ireland number eight Jamie Heaslip in the back during Saturday's RBS 6 Nations clash in Dublin.
Pape was shown a yellow card at the time by referee Wayne Barnes but now looks set to miss some or all of France's remaining games (Wales, Italy and England) if the charge is proven at a hearing later this week.
French head coach Phillipe Saint-Andre claimed after the game that the knee was accidental.
Heaslip was forced to leave the pitch shortly after the incident with reports suggesting he may have suffered broken vertebrae.
Further news on the injury is expected today.
Meanwhile, France Women's lock Manon André has also been cited for making contact with the eye area of an Irish player in her side's 10-5 win in Ashbourne on Friday.
